How can I contact you?

Please visit the contact us section for details on how to get in touch with us. We welcome any enquiries, as well as feedback on how we can improve our services. Delivery

When will my oil be delivered once I have placed an order?

If you have selected Delivery Option 2 'Exact Date' for your delivery, we will ask our suppliers to ensure they deliver to you on the date requested. If you select a delivery window, our supplier will deliver your domestic heating oil any time within this delivery window.
Unfortunately we are unable to give specific delivery dates on delivery windows as this is at the supplier's discretion.

What can I do if I think I may run out of oil before my delivery arrives?

During busy times of the year, our suppliers are often unable to reschedule their deliveries at short notice. The only way you can be sure your oil will be delivered sooner is to cancel your order and place a new order with an earlier delivery date.

If you are unsure when you may run out of oil, we recommend you play it safe by selecting an early delivery date.

What if my order has not been delivered?

If your domestic oil order has not been delivered, the first step is to check the delivery date you have requested on the confirmation email you received from heatingoil.co.uk at the time of ordering. While we always endeavour to deliver within the timescale you requested there are occassions where this may not be possible. We will always try to notify you in advance if such a situation occurs. If you do have any queries, please contact us and let us kow your order number so we can investigate.

Can you make unattended deliveries?

Providing we can gain access to the tank you don't need to be at home when we deliver your home heating oil. All our deliveries are metered and you will receive a printed reading of the precise amount dispensed, so you know exactly how much domestic heating oil we have delivered. These meters are regularly checked by Trading Standards.

Are there different sized delivery vehicles?

With most of our suppliers offering four, six and eight wheeler tankers, heatingoil.co.uk can deliver a large range of fuels and quantities to any location. Please let us know in the 'delivery instructions' section of your order if you require a small tanker.

How far can you deliver from the tank?

Most of our tankers have a 120ft (40m) hose. This is ample for most delivery scenarios.

Who makes my delivery?

Heatingoil.co.uk is responsible for ensuring that your delivery is made within the terms of the order. We have various suppliers across the UK that we reply on to ensure your oil is delivered when you need it. If you have any questions regarding your order, please contact us.

How do I find out how much oil you have actually delivered?

Our delivery driver will leave a printed ticket from the tanker's meter which will show exactly how much oil was delivered.

What if I have a discrepancy with the amount of fuel delivered?

If you've paid for more fuel than we've delivered, we will credit your account with the difference, based on the price you paid for your fuel. If the amount owed is less than £25 your account will not be credited. Please note an administration charge of £10 will be applied for all credits. If you receive a total of less than 500 litres of fuel, no credit or refund will be offered. If you have a discrepancy with your order, please contact us.

What can I do if you do not currently deliver to my area?

If we are not currently delivering in your area, it's probably because we are reviewing our supplier agreements to ensure you get the best possible prices and a prompt and reliable delivery service. You can still register at heatingoil.co.uk and we'll be sure to notify you as soon as we are delivering in your area.

Ordering

Can I cancel or change my order?

Provided you notify us at least two working days before the final scheduled delivery date, we will cancel your order and either refund your payment card or credit your heatingoil.co.uk account. Please note an administration fee of £10 will apply. If you need to change your order, please contact us as soon as possible and we will make every effort to accommodate your request.

How many litres are there to the gallon?

There are 4.546 litres to a imperial gallon. Please see our quantity conversion table.

How much oil can I order?

The minimum amount you can order is 500 litres and the maximum you can order is 100,000 litres. Most customers order between 1,000-2,000 litres. The larger the volume we deliver, the lower the pence per litre price will be. If you are not sure how much you need to order, please read your tank instructions. If you order more than you need we will credit your account with the difference, providing you received more than 500 litres of oil in total, and the difference between fuel ordered and fuel received is greater than 5 litres. Please note an administration fee will be charged for credits. If you are still not sure please contact us.

What can I do to save money when I order?

There are four main ways to save money on your order:

  1. Select a large delivery window. This gives us the opportunity to deliver with other orders in your area.
  2. Order for delivery with other people in your postcode area and we'll set up a ‘Group Buying Day’, which normally offers our lowest prices.
  3. By ordering larger quantities you will get a better pence per litre rate.
  4. Remember, if you have a promotional code, input it when you order. Most of our marketing literature has promotional codes printed on it which will either provide you with a discount on your order, or a prize.

What is the VAT rate for home heating oil?

All domestic customers pay 5% VAT on home heating oil, regardless of quantity.

What is the difference between kerosene and gas oil?

Kerosene, also known as 28 second oil, is produced after the distillation process of crude oil. Most domestic systems run on kerosene because it provides a cleaner and more efficient burn for your home. Gas oil (red diesel), also known as 35 second oil, is more commonly used in agriculture and industry. Gas oil is less combustible than kerosene and has more carbon atoms.
